Responsibilities:
- Conduct legal research on shipping laws, regulations, and precedents.
- Assist attorneys in drafting legal documents, including contracts, agreements, and briefs related to shipping transactions and disputes.
- Review and analyze shipping documents, such as bills of lading, charter parties, and insurance policies.
- Manage case files and maintain organized electronic and physical records.
- Assist in the negotiation and settlement of shipping disputes, including claims for cargo loss or damage, charter party disputes, and vessel arrests.
- Stay informed about developments in maritime law and industry trends.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Paralegal Studies, Legal Studies, or related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a paralegal, with a focus on maritime law or shipping-related matters.
- Strong understanding of legal terminology and concepts related to shipping and maritime law.
- Proficiency in legal research tools and software.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
