Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of the business areas, products, and supporting functions.
- Oversee the registration and ongoing compliance obligations of alternative investment vehicles registered under the Investment Company Act of 1940, including Board reporting, in coordination with legal counsel and external service providers
- Conduct regular compliance reviews and audits of alternative investment activities, which include private equity, hedge funds, real estate, and other non-traditional asset classes by creating, implementing, reviewing and analyzing reports for compliance monitoring
- Identify risks, assess mitigating controls, and make recommendations to improve the control environment.
- Review and monitor documentation for private fund creation and ongoing offerings
- Administer the Code of Ethics compliance program
- Prepare various regulatory filings.
- Assist with compliance training programs
- Create, implement, review, and analyze reports for compliance monitoring.
- Administer the Code of Ethics compliance program, including oversight of personal trading, gifts and business entertainment, and political contributions.
- Assist with compliance training programs.
- Stay abreast of new rules and regulations, implementing processes and controls in accordance with compliance dates.
- Collaborate with legal counsel, external advisers, and industry peers to stay abreast of emerging issues and best practices in the industry
Requirements:
- Bachelors degree (preferably in business law, finance, accounting or a related field); advanced degree or professional certification (e.g., JD or CPA) preferred
- 5+ years of relevant Compliance and Legal experience, with familiarity with alternative investments such as private equity, hedge funds, real estate or venture capital, and/or investment companies registered under the Investment Company Act
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Highly motivated with the ability to multitask and remain organized in a growing and fast-paced environment.
- Attention to detail and ability to see projects through to completion.
- Able to work under minimal supervision on individual tasks or on team projects with a strong sense of ownership and accountability.
- Accurate, accountable, and able to multitask while managing both time and workload.
