A prominent player in the renewable energy sector, is seeking a motivated and mission-driven General Counsel to join their executive team. Position Overview:
As the General Counsel, you will report directly to the CEO and play a critical role in providing strategic legal counsel across the organization. Your responsibilities will include overseeing legal diligence processes, optimizing contracting and financing activities, and ensuring full compliance with regulatory requirements. Key Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic legal advice to senior leadership, including the CEO and CFO, to support business growth and manage risks effectively.
- Lead legal aspects of commercial and industrial project development, finance, and asset management.
- Negotiate and review a variety of agreements, including Power Purchase Agreements, Offtake Agreements, O&M Agreements, EPC Agreements, Site Control Documents, and Services Agreements.
- Develop and implement legal policies and practices to ensure compliance and mitigate legal risks.
- Manage relationships with external legal counsel, ensuring efficient service delivery and cost-effectiveness.
- Oversee corporate governance and maintain compliance with regulatory standards and corporate records.
Requirements:
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited institution.
- Admission to practice law in the United States.
- 8-10 years of relevant experience in renewable energy or related sectors, with expertise in project finance and commercial transactions.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with a collaborative approach to working across all levels of an organization.
- Experience managing a legal team is preferred.
