We are looking for a highly skilled and dynamic General Counsel to join our executive team. The ideal candidate will have a robust background in legal affairs within the health finance sector and experience in building a legal function from the ground up. This role requires a strategic thinker with exceptional leadership and communication skills, as well as a deep understanding of healthcare regulations, finance law, and corporate governance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Establish Legal Function: Develop and implement the legal department's strategy, structure, and processes to support the company's goals and compliance needs.
- Legal Strategy and Advisory: Provide strategic legal counsel to the executive team on a wide range of matters, including corporate governance, regulatory compliance, and risk management.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that all company operations comply with federal, state, and local regulations pertaining to health finance and healthcare services.
- Contract Management: Oversee the drafting, negotiation, and management of contracts, agreements, and other legal documents to protect the company's interests.
- Dispute Resolution: Manage and resolve legal disputes, including litigation, arbitration, and mediation, while minimizing risk and exposure.
- Policy Development: Develop, implement, and oversee company policies and procedures related to legal and regulatory issues.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with internal departments and external stakeholders to provide legal guidance and ensure alignment with business objectives.
- Legal Team Leadership: Recruit, mentor, and manage legal staff, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
Qualifications:
- Education: Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school; admission to the Utah State Bar or ability to obtain licensure in Utah.
- Experience: Minimum of 8-10 years of legal experience, with a significant portion in health finance or related sectors. Proven experience in building and leading a legal function.
