Join our dynamic team as a Global Trade Compliance Director at a leading aerospace and defense company. In this pivotal role, you'll be responsible for ensuring compliance with international trade regulations, facilitating smooth operations across borders, and supporting our global growth initiatives.
Here's what you'll be doing:
- Develop and implement comprehensive global trade compliance programs to ensure adherence to import/export regulations, sanctions, and trade controls.
- Provide expert guidance and support to internal stakeholders, including supply chain, logistics, legal, and finance teams, on trade compliance matters.
- Stay abreast of evolving trade laws and regulations worldwide, assessing their impact on our business operations and proactively implementing necessary adjustments.
- Conduct regular audits and assessments to identify compliance gaps, risks, and opportunities for improvement, and develop and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for government agencies, customs authorities, and external partners on trade compliance matters, ensuring timely and accurate communication and documentation.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to streamline import/export processes, optimize duty and tax obligations, and mitigate compliance risks.
- Lead training and awareness initiatives to promote a culture of compliance throughout the organization and ensure all employees understand their roles and responsibilities.
To excel in this role, you'll need:
- Extensive experience (ideally 7+ years) in global trade compliance, preferably in the aerospace industry.
- In-depth knowledge of international trade regulations, including but not limited to customs laws, export controls, sanctions, and trade agreements.
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively across functions and geographies.
- Proven track record of developing and implementing effective trade compliance programs and processes.
- Detail-oriented mindset with excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field; additional certifications (e.g., Certified Global Trade Compliance Professional) preferred.
