Position Overview:
A fortune 500 insurance provider is seeking an experienced Associate General Counsel to join their legal team. The ideal candidate will have 5-10 years of experience in corporate insurance regulatory matters. This individual will play a key role in providing legal guidance and support to the organization, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations, and mitigating legal risks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide expert legal advice and counsel on corporate insurance regulatory matters, including compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Advise on issues related to the Insurance Holding Company System Act and ensure compliance with its provisions.
- Assist in the development and implementation of corporate policies and procedures to ensure regulatory compliance.
- Conduct legal research and stay abreast of regulatory developments affecting the insurance industry.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including senior management, to provide strategic legal guidance and support business objectives.
- Represent the company in interactions with regulatory agencies, industry groups, and other external parties.
- Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of legal documents, including contracts, agreements, and corporate filings.
- Manage and oversee external counsel, ensuring the delivery of high-quality legal services.
- Provide training and education to employees on relevant legal and regulatory issues.
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
- Admission to the bar in at least one state.
- 5-10 years of experience in corporate insurance regulatory matters, preferably within a large law firm or corporate legal department.
- In-depth knowledge of the Insurance Holding Company System Act.
- Strong understanding of state and federal insurance regulations.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
