Job Description: As Associate General Counsel, you will provide legal counsel to senior management as well as draft and negotiate insurance investment documents. The AGC will ensure regulatory compliance in transactions, oversee the investment compliance process, and manage associated legal and financial risks. Responsibilities also include supporting the investment team with subscription documents and regulatory matters, coordinating with external legal counsel as needed, and collaborating across corporate functions. Additional responsibilities include assisting in major projects like capital raising and mergers and acquisitions.
The Legal Counsel must have the following qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
- An active license in any state with the ability to be admitted in North Carolina
- 6+ years of experience working in-house or at a law firm
- Familiarity with the regulatory framework for insurance company investments at the state level
- Extensive knowledge of investment regulations, financial markets, and insurance law
- Proficient in the drafting, reviewing, and negotiation of investment management agreements, as well as the examining documentation associated with investment transactions
- The ability to thrive in a fast paced work environment
