Senior Labor Counsel
Job Summary:
Join this public transportation company as a Senior Labor Counsel and serve as a strategic legal partner to business and operational leadership in a highly unionized environment. This is a key in-house role focused on traditional labor law, with 60-80% of responsibilities dedicated to collective bargaining negotiations. While the role will be fully remote, this position covers the organization's East Coast region and requires candidates based out of New York, New Jersey, Virginia, Maryland, North Carolina, Washington DC, Maine, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Connecticut, or Massachusetts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead collective bargaining negotiations as chief spokesperson and strategic advisor.
- Manage labor arbitrations, grievance proceedings, and NLRB matters.
- Advise executives, HR, and operational leaders on labor strategy, union relations, and organizational risk.
- Oversee administration and interpretation of multiple collective bargaining agreements (CBAs).
- Conduct labor relations training, support internal investigations, and provide practical, business-focused legal counsel.
- Partner with multi-site operations to resolve complex labor and employee relations issues.
Qualifications:
- J.D. and active bar membership.
- 10+ years of labor law experience.
- Extensive experience leading union negotiations, labor arbitrations, and NLRB matters.
- Experience working with AAA and FMCS preferred.
- Background supporting multi-site, unionized operations strongly preferred.
- Industry experience in transportation, logistics, manufacturing, or public procurement is a plus.
