We've partnered with one of the largest and most sophisticated environmental regulatory agencies in the country to help hire an experienced Senior Deputy District Counsel. This agency plays a critical role in improving air quality for over 17 million residents across Southern California.
This is a high-impact opportunity for an attorney with strong litigation, environmental, and administrative law experience to take on a leadership role within a dynamic legal team. The position includes mentoring junior counsel, overseeing litigation strategy, and directly advising regulatory teams on complex legal matters.
Key Responsibilities:
- Represent the agency in litigation and administrative hearings.
- Supervise junior attorneys and legal support staff.
- Draft rules, contracts, leases, permits, and legal opinions.
- Provide counsel to executive leadership and regulatory teams.
- Lead investigations and prepare cases for civil or criminal prosecution.
- Handle legal matters related to environmental compliance and government operations.
Ideal Background:
- Active California Bar license.
- 5+ years of legal experience (including trial or administrative litigation).
- Background in environmental law, government/regulatory law, or administrative hearings.
- Experience with Clean Air Act, air quality regulations, or environmental enforcement a strong plus.
- Strong leadership, negotiation, and advisory skills.
