Assistant General Counsel - Global Investment Manager
A leading Global Investment Manager known for their work in both private and public markets in the U.S, and abroad is looking to bring on a Counsel with credit fund experience to support their private credit business. This Counsel will work closely with the General Counsel and will be responsible for providing legal advice in connection with all aspects of product development, launch and maintenance of private funds. Given the small nature of the legal team, this individual will have access to other senior legal members as well as c-suite executives across the business.
- Draft, review and negotiate advisory and sub-advisory agreements for institutional and intermediary asset management business.
- Work closely and collaboratively with all members of the Legal and Governance team, as well as business colleagues, in the Americas and throughout the firm globally.
- Provide legal advice in responding to RFPs and client/consultant inquiries.
- Provide legal advice in connection with all aspects of product development, launch and maintenance of private funds, including drafting, reviewing and negotiation of associated documentation.
- Working knowledge of the Investment Advisers Act of 1940, the Investment Company Act of 1940 and ERISA.
Qualifications of the job
- 3+ years of experience at an AM 50 law firm or in-house at a financial services firm
- J.D. from an acreddited law school
- Experience in investment management or private credit
- Able to go into the Manhattan office 3 days a week
- Licensed to practive in at least one state
