Associate General Counsel
A rapidly growing fintech company is seeking an Associate General Counsel to partner closely with executive leadership and help scale the company's legal function.
This is a highly visible role offering exposure across product, commercial, regulatory, and strategic legal matters. The successful candidate will work cross-functionally with leadership, product, compliance, operations, and business teams to support company growth, new product development, and key business initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Advise on a broad range of legal matters across product, commercial, regulatory, and operational functions.
- Support the development and launch of innovative financial products and services.
- Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of commercial agreements, including customer, vendor, partnership, and strategic transaction documents.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to identify legal and regulatory risks and develop practical solutions.
- Help structure and execute strategic relationships with financial institutions, technology partners, and service providers.
- Develop scalable legal processes, templates, and policies to support continued growth.
- Manage outside counsel and support special projects as needed.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of legal experience in-house, at a law firm, or within a governmental agency.
- Experience supporting fintech, financial services, banking, payments, technology, or other highly regulated industries.
- Strong experience handling commercial transactions, product counseling, and/or regulatory matters.
- Ability to work effectively with executive leadership and cross-functional business teams.
- Strong business judgment and practical problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Experience
- Fintech, payments, banking, or financial services experience.
- Exposure to emerging technologies, including AI, digital assets, or blockchain technologies.
- Experience supporting rapidly scaling or venture-backed companies.
- Experience building legal processes, frameworks, or compliance programs.
