A growing boutique law firm with a strong reputation in the Texas energy sector is seeking an Oil & Gas Title Attorney to join its expanding practice. About the Role
The attorney will work closely with experienced energy practitioners on a variety of upstream oil and gas matters, including title examination, title opinions, due diligence, acquisitions and divestitures, and general energy-related transactions throughout Texas and other producing jurisdictions.
This role offers substantial client exposure and the opportunity to work on complex matters for well-established operators, private equity-backed energy companies, and other sophisticated participants in the energy industry.
Responsibilities
- Draft and analyze original, supplemental, division order, and acquisition title opinions.
- Conduct title examinations and cure title defects affecting oil and gas properties.
- Support energy transactions, including acquisitions, divestitures, and financing matters.
- Review leases, assignments, deeds, operating agreements, and other land and title documents.
- Collaborate directly with clients regarding title issues and risk assessments.
- Assist with legal research and counseling on oil and gas ownership and operational matters.
Qualifications
- J.D. from an accredited law school.
- Licensed to practice law in Texas or eligible for admission.
- Minimum of 2 years of oil and gas title experience.
- Experience drafting title opinions and conducting title examinations.
- Strong understanding of Texas oil and gas law.
- Excellent analytical, writing, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating within a team-oriented environment.
Compensation & Benefits
- Base Salary: $125,000 - $200,000, depending on experience and qualifications.
- Billable Requirement: 1,600 hours annually.
- Bonus Structure: Annual and performance-based bonuses.
