The Opportunity
Our client is seeking a Senior Staff Attorney to join their legal team in the New York metropolitan area. This position offers the opportunity to independently manage complex personal injury litigation matters from inception through resolution. The ideal candidate will be a seasoned litigator with substantial trial experience, a strong understanding of high-severity injury claims, and the ability to manage a significant caseload with minimal supervision.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a high-volume docket of personal injury matters, including catastrophic injury and wrongful death cases.
- Develop litigation strategy and oversee cases through settlement, trial, or other resolution.
- Conduct and defend depositions, including expert and medical witness testimony.
- Prepare physicians and expert witnesses for depositions and trial appearances.
- Handle court appearances, hearings, conferences, mediations, and trials.
- Draft pleadings, motions, discovery requests and responses, legal memoranda, and settlement evaluations.
- Analyze liability, damages, and litigation risk exposure.
- Work closely with internal stakeholders and coordinate with outside counsel as necessary.
- Identify and evaluate evidence, witnesses, and case strategy throughout the litigation lifecycle.
- Manage litigation matters independently while maintaining exceptional organization and case management practices.
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
- Active admission to the New York Bar.
- Minimum of 5 years of personal injury litigation experience.
- Demonstrated experience handling high-exposure, high-value injury matters, including wrongful death claims.
- Strong trial experience, including voir dire, witness examinations, and end-to-end case management.
- Experience working with medical experts and preparing healthcare professionals for testimony.
- Ability to independently manage a substantial caseload with minimal oversight.
- Experience practicing throughout all five New York City boroughs is strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with unified trials involving both liability and damages issues.
- Exceptional analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
