Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced and business-minded Director of Legal to serve as a key strategic partner to executive leadership and provide broad legal support across the organization. This individual will act as a legal generalist with significant expertise in Intellectual Property, Commercial Contracts, Product Compliance, and Regulatory Affairs.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead all legal matters related to intellectual property, including trademark, copyright, trade secret, licensing, and brand protection strategies.
- Draft, review, negotiate, and manage a broad range of commercial contracts, including vendor, customer, supply, distribution, and licensing agreements.
- Serve as the primary legal advisor on product compliance and regulatory matters, ensuring adherence to applicable federal, state, and industry regulations.
- Partner with product development, quality, operations, and marketing teams to assess legal and regulatory risks associated with product launches, labeling, packaging, and advertising.
- Develop, implement, and maintain company-wide compliance programs, policies, and training initiatives to mitigate legal and regulatory risk.
- Advise executive leadership on strategic business initiatives, risk management, regulatory developments, and legal implications of operational decisions.
- Manage litigation, disputes, government inquiries, and outside counsel relationships while driving efficient and practical legal solutions.
- Collaborate cross-functionally across business units to support growth initiatives, maintain corporate governance standards, and foster a culture of ethics and compliance.
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
- Active bar membership in good standing.
- 8+ years of legal experience
- Demonstrated experience serving as a legal generalist supporting commercial business operations.
- Experience advising cross-functional business teams on legal and regulatory risk.
