About the Opportunity

A leading financial services organization is seeking a Technical Director to join its Advanced Consulting team. This highly visible position will serve as a subject matter expert on qualified retirement plans, ERISA, employee benefits, and advanced planning strategies, partnering with financial professionals and business leaders to deliver sophisticated retirement and wealth planning solutions.

This role is ideal for an experienced consultant, attorney, or retirement plan specialist who enjoys combining deep technical expertise with client-facing advisory responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide advanced consulting support on retirement plans, ERISA, fiduciary governance, and employee benefits matters.
  • Serve as a technical resource on IRC and ERISA regulations, regulatory developments, and industry trends.
  • Consult with financial professionals, advisors, and plan sponsors on retirement plan design, compliance, and distribution strategies.
  • Develop educational content, including white papers, presentations, articles, and planning materials.
  • Deliver presentations and speak at industry conferences, client events, and professional forums.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support business development initiatives and strategic growth objectives.
  • Assist with advanced planning opportunities involving retirement plans, insurance solutions, annuities, and wealth accumulation strategies.
  • Monitor legislative, regulatory, and Department of Labor developments impacting retirement and benefits markets.

Qualifications

  • Deep expertise in ERISA, the Internal Revenue Code, qualified retirement plams, fiduciary governance, and employee beneifts.
  • Strong understanding of retirement plan design, administration, compliance, and distribution planning.
  • Experience providing technical consulting and guidance to advisors, clients, or plan sponsors.
  • Demonstrated ability to present complex concepts to a variety of audiences.
  • Strong writing, presentation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to travel regularly for client meetings, conferences, and industry events.

Preferred Qualifications

  • JD strongly preferred.
  • CPA is a plus.
  • Experience within retirement services, wealth management, financial planning, consulting, or employee benefits environments.
  • SIE and Series 6 licenses (or ability to obtain within 120 days of hire).
  • Experience developing thought leadership content and industry-facing educational materials.
