Real Estate Finance Associate Attorney

We are currently partnered with a highly sophisticated finance boutique law firm that is hiring an Associate Attorney to join its Real Estate Finance / Commercial Lending practice. This role offers the opportunity to work on complex real estate-backed financings for institutional lenders and investors across a wide range of asset classes, within a highly regarded lending platform that pays Cravath scale.

Responsibilities

  • Represent banks, insurance companies, institutional lenders, and finance arms of major organizations in real estate-backed lending transactions.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate real estate finance documentation, including:
    • Mortgages and other customary real estate documents
    • Real estate loan documents and ancillary financing agreements
  • Conduct and manage title and survey review, including issue spotting and resolution.
  • Support and manage real estate closings, coordinating with deal teams and third parties.
  • Advise clients on real estate and financing issues from both the lender/investor and borrower/developer perspectives.
  • Work on transactions involving a variety of property types, including:
    • Office buildings (government and private)
    • Multi‑family developments
    • Energy facilities
    • Hospitals and medical office buildings
  • Handle multiple fast‑moving transactions simultaneously while meeting tight deadlines.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in real estate and/or finance law, preferably in a commercial lending or real estate finance practice.
  • Experience drafting and negotiating mortgages and other common real estate documents.
  • Experience reviewing, drafting, and negotiating real estate loan documentation.
  • Familiarity with title and survey review and real estate closings.
  • Experience advising or working from the perspectives of:
    • Banks and institutional investors
    • Developers, landlords, credit tenants, and real estate investors
  • Strong academic credentials and excellent analytical, writing, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, transaction‑driven environment and manage multiple matters concurrently.
  • Professional presence, flexibility in work situations, and openness to constructive feedback.
  • Admission to the New York Bar or eligibility to waive in.
