Assistant General Counsel - Higher Ed

A Prestigious Education Institution is looking to hire an Assistant General Counsel. With a lean legal team, this Top 20 Higher Education organization is looking to expand by hiring an attorney who specializes in Labor and Employment Law. Good character and ethics is at the backbone of the school, and the team's ideal candidate holds those same values. The role is located a beloved small college town in the Midwest.

Responsibilities:

  • Working with all departments in school from athletics, to professors, staff and faculty, and up to the office of the provost and key senior leadership
  • Strategic advising on employment issues
  • Responding to EEOC charges
  • Drafting, reviewing, negotiating employment-related agreements
  • Support litigation
  • Employment support including wage and hour, recruitment, labor relations, employee discipline, privacy, security, and more

Requirements:

  • JD from accredited law school
  • 3+ years of legal experience. Big law experience preferred
  • Experience handling labor and employment issues from a counseling point of view. Litigation experience is a plus, but the ideal candidate has experience advising and counseling on L&E issues
  • Strong moral and ethical character.
  • 5 days a week on-campus
