Procurement Counsel
Our client, a global energy company, is seeking a commercial attorney with strong procurement contracting experience to join their legal team. This role will support internal stakeholders across various business units and provide legal guidance on a wide range of commercial agreements, including technology-related contracts.
Essential Functions
- Provide legal support and expertise to internal business clients by drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a wide variety of commercial procurement contracts, including technology-related agreements.
 - Draft and negotiate Requests for Bids, as needed, to support procurement teams and ensure compliance with internal legal standards, policies, and procedures.
 - Collaborate with Assistant General Counsels, other attorneys, and business unit leaders to deliver high-quality, commercial legal advice and documentation.
 - Advise on and assist with the negotiation and settlement of claims involving subcontractors and vendors.
 - Lead discussions with internal stakeholders regarding procurement-related legal needs.
 - Manage and supervise outside counsel in the event of contract disputes or when necessary.
 - Support additional legal projects as needed, based on expertise and judgment.
 
Requirements
- J.D. from an accredited law school and admission to the Texas Bar (or otherwise qualified to practice in-house in Texas).
 - 4-6 years of corporate in-house or law firm experience, with a strong background in drafting and negotiating material agreements in the energy or similarly complex industries.
 - Demonstrated initiative and ambition to take ownership of projects and become a trusted legal advisor to key stakeholders.
 - Willingness to expand into new legal areas and continue professional growth.
 - Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
 - Strong oral and written communication skills.
