Senior Legal Counsel
Duties & Responsibilities
- Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial, transportation, logistics, real estate, and equipment‑related agreements.
- Manage litigation and pre‑litigation matters efficiently and cost‑effectively.
- Advise senior leadership on legal risk, compliance, and business strategy.
- Support corporate compliance programs and provide internal training.
- Assist with corporate governance, including entity management, resolutions, and annual meetings.
- Support HR on labor and employment matters, including policy development and training.
- Partner with U.S. and global stakeholders across multiple business functions.
- Monitor legal and industry trends and advise on related risks.
- Perform additional responsibilities as needed.
Education & Experience
- J.D. from an accredited law school.
- Licensed and in good standing in the applicable state/jurisdiction (or qualified under in‑house counsel rules).
- 5+ years of legal experience in‑house or at a law firm.
- Experience in maritime, logistics, supply chain, and/or transportation preferred.
Skills & Qualifications
- Strong experience drafting and negotiating logistics, transportation, procurement, and complex commercial contracts, plus familiarity with industry regulations.
- Ability to create and refine contract templates and manage a high‑volume workload with shifting priorities.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to distill complex legal issues into actionable guidance.
- Strong analytical, negotiation, presentation, and strategic decision‑making abilities.
- Able to work independently and collaboratively with local and global teams.
- Creative problem‑solver with sound judgment and a continuous‑improvement mindset.
- Self‑starter with a positive, results‑oriented approach and strong attention to detail.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and comfort working with diverse, cross‑functional stakeholders.
