A Chicago based international Capital Markets firm is looking to add a Crypto Fund Accountant to their growing operations team! In this role, you will be immersed in the crypto and blockchain space. The ideal candidate is someone that enjoys being self-directed, detail oriented, and a personable team player in a fast-paced trading environment. This role will sit in Downtown Chicago, IL in office 5 days a week.
Responsibilities
- Forge and sustain the general ledger and sub-ledger for the firm's prop crypto trading, venture holding companies and certain RIA's, in addition to monthly financial statements
- Collaborate with the investment team to address accounting related complications or concerns for investments, current or prospective
- Ensure compliance in coordination with any US GAAP amendments, as well as with blockchain-based protocols and on-chain transaction mapping
- Work with the admin team to coordinate the provision of information to external auditors to ensure timely completion of annual investment audits
- Classify and document on and off blockchain cryptocurrency transactions, as well as obtaining data needed to perform auditable reconciliation of all crypto activity down to the transaction level for historical and future trading
- Implement a comprehensive set of documented controls and procedures designed to mitigate risk in addition to monitoring daily and monthly valuations of cryptocurrency positions on exchange, in custody, and on-chain into the firms ERP
- Coordinate with the tax manager on any tax related complications or concerns for potential investments while ensuring the firm's accounting records provide the granularity of detail needed for tax compliance
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required
- 4+ years of public or fund administration experience
- Well versed in Cryptocurrency firm support (public or admin side)
- Well versed with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Business Center
- Previous crypto trading or investment firm experience preferred
- CPA preferred
- VBA expertise is a plus
