Trade Compliance Counsel - Remote

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Trade Compliance Counsel to join this electrical manufacturer's growing legal team. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of experience in trade compliance, preferably within the manufacturing or electric industry. This role is critical in ensuring the company adheres to all applicable trade laws and regulations, mitigating risks, and supporting global operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain trade compliance policies and procedures.
  • Provide legal advice and guidance on trade compliance matters, including export controls, import regulations, and sanctions.
  • Conduct internal audits and assessments to ensure compliance with trade laws and regulations.
  • Collaborate with various departments, including supply chain, logistics, and finance, to ensure compliance across the organization.
  • Monitor and analyze changes in trade laws and regulations, and communicate their impact to relevant stakeholders.
  • Assist with accurate tariff classification and customs valuation of goods, crucial for determining duties and taxes.
  • Develop and implement compliance programs and policies to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements across all operational jurisdictions, including quality control and manufacturing processes.
  • Manage and respond to government inquiries and investigations related to trade compliance.
  • Conduct training sessions for employees on trade compliance policies and procedures.
  • Prepare and submit required trade compliance documentation and reports.
  • Liaise with external legal counsel and regulatory authorities as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active bar membership in Florida, Georgia, or New York.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in trade compliance, preferably within the manufacturing or electric industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of U.S. and international trade laws and regulations.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
