The Opportunity
Our client is seeking a Senior Counsel, Transportation Litigation & Risk to join their Houston office (hybrid: 3 days in-office, 2 remote).
This is a unique, client-facing role supporting Uber Technologies, offering the opportunity to handle sophisticated, high-exposure litigation while working closely with in-house legal stakeholders. The position blends complex litigation management with strategic risk advisory, making it an ideal fit for attorneys who want an in-house style experience within a firm platform.
You will manage a focused docket of impactful cases, including catastrophic injury, wrongful death, and transportation liability matters, while contributing to broader litigation and risk strategy.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a portfolio of complex litigation matters from inception through resolution
- Handle all phases of litigation, including pleadings, discovery, depositions, and trial preparation
- Serve as a strategic partner to Uber's in-house legal team, providing regular updates and legal guidance
- Develop and execute litigation and risk management strategies for high-exposure cases
- Represent corporate clients in matters involving:
- Catastrophic injury and wrongful death
- Transportation and auto liability
- General liability
- Collaborate on multi-jurisdictional litigation, including MDL and coordinated proceedings
- Work closely with internal teams and external stakeholders on case strategy and outcomes
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (JD) required
- Licensed to practice in Texas and in good standing
- 8+ years of litigation experience, preferably in defense or complex liability matters
- Background in transportation, personal injury, general liability, or catastrophic injury litigation
- Strong client-facing, communication, and strategic thinking skills
- Ability to independently manage complex, high-value cases
- Trial experience preferred but not required
